The Trump administration just issued its xenophobic policy called “public charge.” Under this policy, the federal government would be able to decide granting of green cards based on the public assistance you receive and other factors, like health, family size, education, and English language proficiency. In other words, documented immigrants must choose between basic services, like health care and food stamps, or keeping their family together in the US.
This proposed rule does nothing to make immigrants self-sufficient. Rather, this rule is designed to prevent many immigrants from becoming legal permanent residents. Add your name to demand that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security stop this xenophobic regulation.
